Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology (or Ortho-K) is a specialised contact lens and fitting. It involves wearing a rigid contact lens overnight which gently reshapes the cornea. This means that during the day, you won’t require your glasses or contact lenses at all!

It is used to correct myopia and can also slow down eye growth in progressive myopia. Ortho-K can be especially useful for those that are not good candidates for laser surgery, have dry eyes or work in conditions where wearing contact lenses throughout the day could cause problems.

Using the lenses requires an eye examination to get the best fit of the lens for the best result. A reading with the corneal topographer is often the first step. The lenses are completely customised for each and every patient.
