Blepharitis

Blepharitis is a common condition of the eyelids and eyelashes characterised by red, puffy lid margins and crusting of the eyelashes.

It is one of the main causes of dry eye syndrome and can range from being a slight annoyance to something quite debilitating. It is also a common precursor to recurrent styes.

Some forms of blepharitis include little mites called Demodex that can hide in your eyelashes.

Successful treatment of this condition starts by having the right diagnosis, followed by a personalised treatment plan. This may involve better lid hygiene including eyelid wipes, or the BlephEx.
